Coastal Food Festival at Double Tree Suites by Hilton, Bengaluru

Spanning all the way from the west to the east and down till the south, the Indian coastline stretches over a massive 7500 kilometres.

People from coastal regions exhibit vast diversity along with an underlying commonality due to the coastal biodiversity. Seafood plays a major role in the cuisine of the coastal states.

A few days ago, I was invited to Asia Alive at the Double Tree Suites by Hilton on Sarjapur Road, Bangalore to sample the special coastal food buffet as part of their ongoing Coastal Food Festival.

The spacious and aesthetically pleasing restaurant has been done up with minimalist elements to give a sense of the Sea to the space.

The spread includes a live seafood grills counter including fish like Indian Salmon, Ladyfish, Mullet, Butter Fish, Crab, White Emperor and more; these are paired with a variety of marinades to choose from, a live Appam and Stew counter, a Chaats counter and a wide-spread main course with the dishes simmering away in earthen clay pots and a desserts section.

The Jhal-Muri from the Chaats counter was as close to what you get in Calcutta- a must try! The Chicken Stew with light Appams will make for a great start to the meal.

The main course offers items like Chakka Puzhukku and Kottayam Fish Curry from Kerala, Ennai Kathirikkai from Tamil Nadu, Caldin and Xacuti from Goa, Prawns Gassi and Mangalorean Fish Curry and more.

The desserts counter includes a spectacular Chenna Rasmalai, Kala Jamun, Rasgullas, cut fruits and the elusive Kalakand.

The buffet diner is very reasonably priced at ₹1099 plus taxes per person. Reservations are recommended and can be made on +918861306613 or +918861301378.

A warm note of thanks to Ms. Prapti Walia Kamath and the team at Double Tree Suites by Hilton for the stupendous hospitality.
