Puglia Food Festival at Italia, The Park, Bangalore

Italia- the Italian speciality restaurant at The Park, Bangalore is hosting a Puglia Food Festival, celebrating dishes from the southern region in beautiful Italy.

Puglia boasts of the longest coastline of any region in mainland Italy. It is deep rooted in history for having played a pivotal role during wars with the Greek and Turks and holds importance in the world of Wines for producing great vines from its Solento region.

Puglian cuisine is essentially rustic, with augmented use of fresh produce including tomatoes, egg plants, asparagus, Mushrooms and lots of Olive oil!

At the Puglia Food Festival at The Park, Sr. Sous Chef Baseer dishes out spectacular items, that may not be very visually appealing, but stay true to being termed Puglian.

The Bollito di Carne is a traditional soup made of lamb, potatoes, tomatoes and spaghetti. Think summer or rain, and this is as good as it gets!

The Puccia was delectable in every way with its pizza-dough buns and slices of ham. Sgombri con Palate al Forno- baked mackerel in potatoes and tomatoes was rustic and bursting with flavors.

Orecchiette con cime di Rapa was small, Ear-shaped pasta, topped in a luscious, light sauce with broccoli, garlic, tomatoes and ricotta cheese.

The two desserts- Purcedduzzi (orange flavored gnocchi with cinnamon honey) and Bocconotto (tart with pastry cream, blueberry and chocolate) were both decadent and delicious.

The Puglia Food Festival at Italia, The Park, Bangalore and under the watchful eyes of Chef Baseer showcases the true essence of what Puglia cuisine is all about- rustic, simple, fresh, flavoursome home-style cooking.

The menu is very reasonably priced, with exemplary service and is best commenced with a glass of chilled Prosecco.
