Ministry of Food at the Hilton Bangalore Embassy Golflinks is hosting a coastal themed buffet, every Thursday.
Termed the “Coastal Theme Nights”, the buffet features a specially curated menu, aimed to remind you of home-style food of coastal regions that includes Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Mangalore, West Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
As we were seated, we were offered the beverages menu and I chose a Yalumba 2012 Chardonnay.
The wine comes from the house of Yalumba, Australia’s oldest family owned winery. This Chardonnay depicts the Cape Barren Goose, a symbol of an endangered species. Over the years, many birds and animals have sought and found refuge in Yalumba’s sanctuary, land dedicated to native wildlife rehabilitation. Fermentation by natural or ‘wild’ yeast, naturally present in the vineyard has helped shape this wine; tasting notes of pineapple, grass and hints of citrus.
The food on offer is mostly non vegetarian fare, with a wide variety of seafood.
Starters like the stir fried paneer, chili chicken, mutton seekh kebab, Bhetki tikka and crispy mushrooms were executed beautifully.
What stood out for me amongst the range of starters was the Mushroom Galouti. Earthy, rich and flavorful, this was truly a melt-in-the-mouth dish. Only feed back was to serve it on a bed of a small Ulta tawa Ka Paratha.
Desserts include a live ice-cream counter, Indian desserts, cakes, pastries and more.
